On the 8th of last month, Seoul Dongdaemun Police Station arrested an individual, identified as A, for obstructing public duties, assault, and defamation. A allegedly physically assaulted police officer B, who intervened to halt A’s verbal abuse of a female civil servant on March 29th around 12:30 PM at a local government building in Seoul’s Dongdaemun-gu. A has been a persistent troublemaker for nine years, frequently visiting the building without cause, demanding coffee from civil servants, and hurling insults. Despite receiving legal support from the local government, A was apprehended and handed over to the police after the incident. Complaints from the local government about A’s behavior prompted the issuance of an arrest warrant on the 26th of last month, leading to A’s apprehension on the 7th of this month. In response, officials from the local government stressed their commitment to safeguarding their employees’ legal rights by providing them with legal representation.
